Jessica Rowand - Lead Vocals and Lyrics
Jessica Rowand, originally from the Garden state of New Jersey,
has had a passion for singing all her life. Being influenced
at an early age by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Joni Mitchell
and Bonnie Raitt. At the age of 8 years old she took the stage
for the first time to sing her rendition of winter wonderland.
By High School she joined her first of many bands to come.
Early in her career she fronted the all female band London
Underground. They immediately took on the club scene of New
York City and New Jersey playing from Asbury Park to the Wetlands.
In the early 90s Jessica decided to take her talents west
as she relocated herself to Boulder Colorado. She stepped
into the local scene recording with local musicians and performing
part time with many local favorite groups from Lord of word
to Second Sound. In 2000 Jessica contributed her smooth vocals
to local recording artist “Soul Wave”, a side
project of United Dope Front’s Ben Senterfit.

Jessica sang with local high-energy dance funk cover band,
Funkiphino, for three years, where she established herself
on the local scene as one of the definitive local Divas singing
the songs of Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross and other soul legends.
Tired of singing other people’s music, Jessica starting
writing original songs with Bassist Paul Rogalski and Mojomama
was born. Combining funk, rock and soul influences they began
the process of finding an original sound. The band is playing
live, receiving local radio airplay and getting very positive
feedback. They have completed 2 CDs original, and all we can
say is we hope the world is ready
Paul Rogalski – Bassist
Paul Rogalski, from Boston Massachusetts, graduated Berklee
College of Music in the early 90s with a Professional Music
Diploma. Shortly thereafter Paul left the rat race of the
East Coast to find residence in Boulder, Colorado.
Once arriving in Colorado, Paul found a very welcoming music
scene. Local singer Nina Storey asked Paul to join and collaborate
with her talents. They released a live CD, “Nina Storey
Band BOOTLEG” and played everywhere from Boulder to
the L.A. House of Blues.
Paul formed local band, Coykindred, a funk rock band fronted
by local diva Lauren Monroe. Within six months they composed
and recorded a strong self-titled CD, which received powerful
reviews on the local scene. Finally in 2002, Paul started
writing music with Jessica Rowand and there came the birth
of Mojomama. Settling into his own groove and creativity makes
for a happy bass player. Paul also teaches electric bass full
time and offers all of these experiences he has embraced over
the years to the next wave of future bassists
Keith Wojciechowski – Guitars
Born and raised in Chicago, Keith grew up listening to local
blues artists and legends. So naturally these artists have
had a profound impact on Keith’s guitar playing and
the feel that he brings to the instrument. Compelled by these
influences he played in several bands expanding his musical
repertoire to include fusion, rock, R & B and folk. He
has studied music theory at Lawrence University and has taken
lessons with guitarists Jack Grassel and Roger Brotherhood.
His greatest musical assets are the energy that he brings
to the band, the technique that he has worked hard to establish
and his tasteful rhythm playing. Listeners find that Keith’s
playing sounds inspired, melodic and fresh. His main influences
are Jimi Hendrix, Robben Ford, Charlie Parker and John Scofield.
Mike Fogerty – Drums
Mike is a Colorado native and has been on the music scene
for 22 years. He has been the timekeeper for various Front
Range bands such as The Brokers, Twitch, Dave Davis and Blues
Child. Playing different styles of music ranging from blues
to metal to funk. He is now settled into the drum position
for Mojomama. Being able to bring his experience and positive
vibrations to the music, creates the rock steady groove for
this mature sounding band.
Doug Carmichael - Saxophones
Doug Carmichael, a Colorado native, started playing saxophone
at the age of 11. In his high school years he started studying
with CU Professor of saxophone Vince Gnojek. Doug attended
the University of Colorado and continued to study from Vince
Gnojek and later with Tom Meyer. Doug holds an undergraduate
and masters degree from CU in music education and a minor
in saxophone performance. He has taught music on various levels
ranging from elementary band through the college level.
He has performed with various groups ranging from the Longmont
Symphony Orchestra to Big Bands in Fort Collins to small groups
like the Jean Pool Trio. He continues to be in demand as a
studio player throughout the front-range.
Doug has been influenced by great jazz artists like Charlie
Parker, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Michael Brecker, Kenny
Garrett, Joshua Redman, and Bob Mintzer.
Doug brings intellect and a bit of maturity to the sound
of Mojomama with his challenging solos, venturing to bring
the listener to another place. The tone of his instrument
is what you hear in your mind when envisioning a sax within
a song. Which is why he has become a vital ingredient to Mojomama,
bringing that killer tone to the serve the song.
Doug plays on a Selmer Mark VI Tenor with a Florida Otto
Link. His alto is a Selmer Mark VII with a Claude Lakey 53
mouthpiece. His soprano is a Cannonball with a Meyer 7 mouthpiece.
